Petersham and Ham are small villages located new Richmond. There are multiple old and fine buildings here including several Listed structures, Douglas House, Cassel Hospital,  the Georgian Ormeley lodge and Latchmere House. The most notable building here is 17th century manor Ham House. Sports organisations here include Ham & Petersham Cricket club and Ham Polo Club. Ham Common is a local open space and the medieval Petersham Parish church still operates to this day. Transport is handled by multiple bus routes, linking the area with Richmond and Kingston upon Thames. Notable residents, both past and present include, actor Richard E. Grant, founder of the Bank of Scotland Archibald Campbell, explorer George Vancouver, politician John Russell, philosopher Bertrand Russell and author Lynne Truss.
