Home is where the heart is and London is the heart of the UK so naturally it is a great place to live. Anything and everything you could want from a home and its surrounding area can be found here so you should be prepared to do a lot of research on each London postcode district so that you can find the place that is right for you.
You should start your search with the with the South Eastern or SE district. It is one of London's earliest postcode districts and is currently responsible for the major parts of the Boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark and Greenwich, as well as sections of the Boroughs of Bexley, Lambeth and Bromley. In 1917 all London postcode areas where divided into smaller areas that would allow for easier mail delivery, expanded information on street signs and increased accuracy in navigation. Thirty such areas exist in SE today, with them being SE1 to SE28, as well as SE1P and SE99 which are non-geographic postcodes that are not associated with an area but are used by businesses for direct marketing and PO boxes.
One such area in SE is the Sydenham district in the SE26 region. This includes Sydenham and part of Crystal Palace which are spread across Bromley, Lewisham and Southwark but both use the post town address of LONDON. SE26 is on the edge of the main London region and is bounded by SE6, SE19 SE20, SE21, SE23 and the Kent district, meaning that Bellingham, Catford, Norwood, Anerly, Penge, Dulwich, Forest Hill, Bromley, Dover and more are not for from here. Flats are unsurprisingly the cheapest options for homes here, costing about £162,300 for one bedroom, £255,100 for three bedrooms and £341,400 for four bedrooms. Houses start at £250,500 for a single bedroom, a two bedrooms home will cost approximately £265,500 for two bedrooms, £760,500 for five bedrooms and £1,458,400 for six bedrooms.
The area has a large mix of housing available meaning whatever you're looking for, you're likely to find it here. Near the central train station are Victorian homes some of which are multi occupancy, then towards the east are a large Victorian and Edwardian terraces and not far from here are apartments converted from warehouses. There are two parks main in SE26; Mayow and Sydenham Wells Park, but Crystal Place park is also not far from here. Sydenham Wood is also in the area. There are many bus services here but the main form of transport is the trains that allow for easy travel all throughout London.
